Greetings, Kia ora, Kia orana, Talofa , Malo e lelei,  Namaste, Ni Hau, Bula, Kumusta ka

thank youAs the first term draws to a close, the Establishment Board of Trustees would like to thank the staff, children, school families, Parish Priests, and parishioners for all that has been achieved in this first term of our foundation year and for making Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School such a special place. It has been a very busy, but a very rewarding time. Thank you all for your on-going interest, support and encouragement. It is a great team effort!

Education Review Office

As part of the school’s establishment phase, ERO reviewers visit the school several times to undertake a Readiness Review to ensure that the school has met all the requirements and is ready to open. At each visit during last year and particularly during the last visit on 22 March, where teachers and children were well underway with their teaching and learning, the reviewers have been very impressed with the progress that has been made in such a short time. Particular mention has been made of the Catholic Special Character that pervades all aspects of school life, the warm relationships very evident between children and staff, the excellent teaching and learning that is taking place and of course the school facility itself.

Congratulations to Miss Lindstrom, our dedicated principal and the staff team for the wonderful work you are doing and the many hours that have been put into making such a great start to our foundation year.

Staffing

This week the school farewells Mr Nico van der Merwe, who has resigned from his Deputy Principal position. The Establishment Board of Trustees takes this opportunity to thank Mr van der Merwe for his valued contribution to the work of the school in this important establishment phase and wish him well as he continues his teaching career.

Property

I am sure you will all agree that we have been blessed to have such a wonderful teaching and learning facility. Finishing touches are being completed on the main buildings and during the school holidays we hope to see the school hall completed, along with the caretaker’s building next to the hall. Early next term we will have a part time caretaker employed to take care of the outdoor environment.

One of the tasks of the new Board of Trustees will be to consider the future development of the outdoor areas, including playground areas for the children.

Board of Trustees Elections

Important noticeLast Monday, we had a successful information evening around the role of the Board of Trustees in the school’s continued growth and development. A special thank you to those parents who attended and for your participation.

The time for the Establishment Board of Trustees to step down is fast approaching, after two and a half years of getting the school established. Early next term, we will be calling for people to step forward and accept nomination to be elected to the Foundation Board of Trustees for Holy Trinity Catholic Primary School.

Being on the Board of Trustees is a wonderful way to become involved in the life of your children’s school and their education. It is a commitment and a very rewarding one, where members have the opportunity to live out the school’s vision of learning, loving and serving in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Please give this ministry your consideration – it may just be for you!

The Ministry of Education has just confirmed that 9 June 2017 is to be election day and the new Board of Trustees will take office on 17 June. Mrs Faye Gibson, the Governance Facilitator working with the Establishment Board of Trustees, will be the Returning Officer for the elections. You will be hearing more from Faye early next term.
