Dear Families

Once again, we have raced through another term of busy school life and now find ourselves ready for the July School holidays!

So as we go on holiday, we pause to give thanks to God for all that has been achieved as a school community.

We give thanks to God for our staff and the dedication they show in working with each child as they grow in their learning and personal development.

We give thanks to God  for our children who take on the opportunities and challenges of school life with willingness and positive attitudes.

We give thanks to God for our families/whānau who continue to support their child and school in the many shared activities and events.

AND we give thanks to God for all those who lead and support our school through governance (School Board), prayer and spiritual life (our Parish Priest), fundraising and social events (PTFA)

May we all be blessed for the work we do to nurture and grow this special school community in learning ka ako, loving ka aroha and serving ka manaaki in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

End of Term School Mass

Father Mathew, from St Mary’s Parish, Papakura, lead our school community this afternoon in a beautiful Mass, celebrating the end of our school term. This was a great way to head into the holidays with helpful words from Fr Mathew to help guide us in following the message of the Gospel Reading of the day – Matthew 9:9-13, The Calling of Matthew.

Fr Mathew helped us to understand that Jesus was always on the move! He was even out walking when he came across Matthew sitting at his office table, collecting taxes. Jesus invited Matthew to walk with him, to leave behind his sinfulness and to be on this journey together to heaven. Just as Jesus invited Matthew to walk with him, Jesus also invites us to walk with him – to be on the journey with him. We too can be like Matthew, the tax collector by striving to live out the teachings of Jesus.

Fr Mathew asked the children (and the adults!) to continue to journey and to walk with Jesus over the school holiday break when we’re with our family and friends, by saying and doing good things, by being helpful, by being kind and blessing people by saying ‘God Bless you!”

We pray that our families will see, hear and notice each of us taking up Jesus’ invitation as Matthew, the tax collector did, by responding to Jesus’ call to follow and be on the journey with Him!

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou Mrs Silva, Pompallier Whānau staff and students, and all our students who prepared and led ministries in our school Mass this afternoon.

Mahi Tahi Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

Thank you to the many families who attended the scheduled Mahi Tahi, Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. These were a great opportunity for you to meet with your child’s kaitiaki/teacher. The Conferences are a valuable time for you to discuss your child’s mid-year progress and achievement in reading, writing, and maths, as well as their progress in meeting learning goals, and to share their learning and reflections from their Concept/Science and Arts learning.

If you were not able to attend the Mahi Tahi Conferences this week, please make contact with the school office or directly with your child’s Learning Community teachers so we can arrange for times for this to happen early in Term 3.

Complaints Policy and Procedures

It is always good practice each year to inform parents and community of the appropriate channel to share concerns or worries. Schools are required to have a Complaints Policy in place.  The purpose is to provide clear guidelines for the school community in raising and resolving concerns and complaints.

These procedures enable us to:

  • maintain the best learning environment for our students
  • resolve matters of concern early, if possible
  • respond to feedback and concerns constructively
  • deal with complaints fairly, effectively, and promptly
  • take into account individual circumstances
  • maintain confidentiality
  • preserve school/community relationships and communication
  • monitor and record complaints and concerns about student safety.

Most complaints can be resolved informally by discussions with the people concerned.

  1. Discuss the issue with the right person.
  2. Work towards a resolution.

School policies and procedures are held online with SchoolDocs. Access to this information is shared with you at each student enrolment interview. Please click on the link for our school’s Complaints process  Concerns Complaints Flowchart (24)
